Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 August 2026
CodeRunShip (https://coderunship.com) is run by Chaitanya Sunkara. This page explains what data the site handles, why, and what your choices are. The short version: it's a static site — we collect nothing unless you submit a form, buy something, or unlock the supporter area.
What we collect, and why
- Newsletter signup — your email address, used only to send you episode emails. Handled by Netlify Forms (our hosting provider) and stored there.
- Sponsor enquiry form — the email, company and message you submit, used only to reply to your enquiry. Also handled by Netlify Forms.
- Purchases — payments are processed by our checkout provider, who acts as merchant of record. They collect your billing details (name, email, payment method, country) under their own privacy policy; we never see your payment details. We receive order information (what was bought, the buyer email) to deliver the product.
- Supporter area — unlocking with your licence key sets a signed, HttpOnly cookie (
crs_sup) holding the key so you stay signed in for up to 30 days. It's validated against the checkout provider on each visit and is essential for the feature — it isn't used for tracking. - Hosting logs — Netlify, which hosts the site, keeps standard server logs (IP address, request URL, user agent) for security and operations.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and episodes people find useful — but only if you allow it. Analytics loads solely after you press Accept on the cookie notice; decline it (or ignore it) and no analytics cookies are set, and the site works exactly the same. When enabled, it collects usage data (pages visited, approximate location, device type) under Google's privacy policy; we see only aggregated statistics.
Your choice is remembered in your browser. You can change it at any time.
Your theme choice (dark/light) is kept in your browser's local storage (crs-theme) and never leaves your device.
Embedded content
Video pages embed YouTube players. When you play a video, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect viewing data under its own privacy policy — the same as watching on YouTube itself.
What we don't do
We don't sell or share your data with anyone for marketing, run ad trackers, or send you anything you didn't ask for. Data lives with the processors named above (Netlify, our checkout provider, Google) — nowhere else.
Retention and your rights
Newsletter and form data is kept until you ask us to delete it or unsubscribe; order data is kept as long as the checkout provider requires for tax and accounting. You can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you — send a request through the contact form and we'll act on it within 30 days. If you're in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your data-protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it. Significant changes will be noted on the blog.
